Inside Business: SkyRun Succeeds in Estes

In just three years’ time, the SkyRun Vacation Rentals of Estes Park, owned by Greg Rosener and Cydney Springer, has become the second-largest management group across the nation in the SkyRun network.

Rosener said that SkyRun operates like a franchise but essentially they’re buying a license for the SkyRun software while the rest of the management is done by the local staff. Since January 2017, their staff has grown from the two owners to 18 employees, all but one of whom live in Estes.

The need for a sophisticated vacation rental management company was apparent to Rosener and Springer, which led them to SkyRun’s service, a software that helps manage rates, books guests, tracks reservations, establishes communications between owner and guest and offers owner’s business insights. “We saw the opportunity and found a good product but what has really made us successful is the dedication of our people. It’s not just a job for us, we work hard so our guests have a good experience and our clients have total peace of mind,” said Springer.

The booking process definitely helps, as SkyRun posts its rentals on almost every major booking channel – including VRBO, Airbnb, HomeAway, etc.. And the rates are managed by a dynamic pricing tool that updates daily based on supply and demand.

But how many rental management companies do an inspection after the cleaning is done? This extra layer of quality-control helps explain why the Estes Park team has earned one of the highest overall review ratings in the SkyRun network.

“I’ve been working in Estes Park on job creation for the last 50 years,” said Rosener, “pushing for an economic thrust, which currently includes the Estes Park EDC. And with SkyRun we’re creating jobs in the industry that sustains the economy here.”

Rosener says that if vacation rentals weren’t available in this market the tourism industry might be half of what it is now if only hotels and motels were available. Plus the experience in a vacation home is quite unique compared to a hotel.

“Vacation rentals are different from hotels and motels because they bring in families and groups of friends that like to stay together. The two are really quite different markets,” said Rosener.
