Located on Interstate 80 along Lake Tahoe, Boreal Mountain Resort is one of the easiest resorts to access from Northern California and Nevada. Boasting almost 80% snowmaking coverage, Boreal is one of the first Lake Tahoe resorts to open each winter. The mountain averages 400 inches of snowfall per season alongside 240 days of sunshine a year. The resort is home to family friendly terrain combined with more advanced intermediate trails. The resort is known for having a great atmosphere and provides spectacular views of the surrounding landscape.

Diamond Peak is a ski resort in the western United States, located in Incline Village, Nevada. Near the northeast shore of Lake Tahoe, the resort has 6 chairlifts, 31 runs, open glades, and tree skiing on its 655 acres (2.65 km2) of terrain. It's summit elevation is 8,540 feet (2,603 m) above sea level, yielding a vertical drop of 1,840 feet (561 m), sixth among the ski areas surrounding Lake Tahoe. Its season ranges from December to April, and its longest run is 2.5 miles (4.0 km). Lifts include the "Lakeview Quad" which features a view of Lake Tahoe during the lift's ascent.Incline Creek and its associated trail ascends gradually to Camp Folsom and back to the Diamond Peak Resort.

Donner Ski Ranch was first utilized for skiing in 1937 and is located high atop historic Donner Summit. The area's first rope tow was located at the base of the current lodge. Today, Donner has 400 skiable acres, 5 double and 1 triple chairlifts.

Heavenly Ski Resort averages 360 inches of annual snowfall covering 4,800 skiable acres and a 3,500-foot vertical drop. Sitting on the border of California and Nevada that you can actually ski across, it’s easy to find a variety of entertainment and nightlife after a day on the slopes at Heavenly. The resort offers options for après ski, from its Tamarack Lodge to the surrounding south Lake Tahoe area. Homewood Mountain Resort boasts some of, if not the best views in California’s entire Lake Tahoe region. Easily accessible from Interstate 80 and California Highway 89, the resort rises 1,650 vertical feet from the shores of beautiful Lake Tahoe to its 7,880’ summit elevation. The resort averages 450 inches of snowfall and 300 days of sunshine each year. While there are beginner terrain options (15%) and advanced terrain (35%), skiers and snowboarders often come to enjoy an abundance of intermediate terrain (50% of the mountain) while taking in the views of crystal clear Lake Tahoe.

Kirkwood Mountain Resort is a year-round mountain destination located along the Sierra Crest in the Eldorado National Forest south of Lake Tahoe in California. The terrain at Kirkwood offers skiers and riders everything from long groomed trails to expert lines and chutes. The resort receives abundant snowfall each season coupled with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. The village contains ski in, ski out accommodations with adjacent shops and restaurants. The resort also plays host to other activities including cross country skiing, snow shoeing, dog sled tours and backcountry access.

Mount Rose Ski Tahoe is the closest ski resort to Reno, Nevada. And the only ski resort that offers a 360 degree view into Nevada's Truckee Meadows and Lake Tahoe. At the top of the peak on a clear day one can see a unique transition of arid desert to the east and lush evergreen forest of the Sierra Mountain Range to the west. The Resort is located about 30 miles (50 km) south of Reno in the Carson Range. Mt. Rose is Tahoe's highest base elevation at about 8,260 ft (2,520 m) and the summit is 9,700 ft (3,000 m). The resort is known for its laid back atmosphere coupled with high-end luxury accommodations, shopping and dining. The resort is home to impeccable grooming, incredible tree skiing and a variety of terrain options suitable for any ability level. The resort also contains world-class terrain parks and a 22-foot superpipe designed by Olympian Shaun White.

Since its inception in 1946, Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort has grown into its role as one of Lake Tahoe's largest resort areas. Sierra-at-Tahoe features 14 chairlifts that access 2000 acres of skiable terrain and 2,212 feet of vertical. The resort also provides 5 backcountry access gates into Huckleberry Canyon. The resort includes 8 food outlets, 6 bars, ski & snowboard group and private lessons as well as a telemark and backcountry center. The 46 available trails average 400 inches of snow per year. Blizzard Mountain provides tubing hills and a snowplay area. In addition, visitors will find 3 miles of snowshoe trails.

As the longest running ski resort in California, Soda Springs Mountain Resort is the best place to explore the magic of winter in Tahoe.
